Darco Wound Care Shoe System has a unique insole layering system recommended for the treatment of foot problems where it is desirable to redistribute weight away from specific areas. The shoe offers a proven, economical ulcer management protocol for healing both weight-bearing and non-weight bearing ulcers.

Carefully fit the shoe so that the metatarsal heads are just in front of the rocker apex. The instructions for locating and unloading a particular area must be followed carefully. These instructions involve:

1. The grade of the ulcer (on the Wagner scale)
2. The size and shape of the unloaded area
3. The specific positioning of the four layers of insole materials before and after the ulcer closes
